I am a mixed media artist that mainly works through paint. I enjoy all aspects of painting, but mostly the therapeutic aspect of it. I don’t specialise in one particular area of painting, I tend to paint in the moment: whether it be my immediate location, surrounding people, or my emotions at that time. I believe that this allows me to be free in my practice and the outcomes tend to be quite personal. However, this may not always be obvious to the viewer. I enjoy working with textured materials and incorporating them in my paintings; I have previously used sand, cotton wool balls, cardboard, and many more things into my paintings to give them a textured look/feel.
I have previously worked on a project of ‘memories’ where I painted an image of my late grandfather, I used sand, wood and sea from Porthcawl beach to create this painting as that was our favourite place to go. I connected so much with this painting that I never wanted the experience to end, the memories came flooding in and It felt like we were back at the beach, together. Connecting artwork with memories/moments is something I am passionate about, I believe the best artwork comes from within.

Panting isn’t only a passion, it’s a feeling. Whether it be painting with watercolour, acrylics, oil paints and more; the therapeutic aspect of it never changes. I have used paint to overcome many difficult times in my life. At the age of 12 I was in a horrific accident. Without being able to express myself through the medium of art, I wouldn’t be who I am today. It is helpful because it provides escapism, distraction, focus and relief. It is an alternative way of communicating without having to explain yourself through speech.
