ABSTRACT BEACH PAINTINGS
Acrylic on Brown Card
Painting images of the beach is something I have always been interested in, I find it very therapeutic. These painting were all completed at a bad stage in my life, painting gave me the freedom to express my feelings. The beach is my safe place, the paintings are from 4 different beaches that I visited over the summer (2019); Porthcawl, Camarthen Bay, Barry Island and Ogmore Beach. I tend to manipulate my paintings in an abstract way, the reason for this is because the scenery is constantly changing; from the sea moving, people walking, birds flying, dogs playing and more. By painting in an abstract way, it allows me to be able to work on top of the initial painting and build the paint up with layering.

Acrylic paint was used to complete these paintings, I used cotton wool balls to paint the paintings in order to add texture and depth. The paintings were completed on brown paper, the reason for this is because it allowed them to look more professional with a border around them. It gave them a framed look, this was the first time I had experimented with this technique. I will be working in this way more in the future, I believe it works well and gives the painting a nice finished look.
